Description
The Windham Region Military Service Council and
the Windham Region Veterans Coffeehouse
Requests the presence of all Vietnam Era Veterans
To honor you for your service & sacrifice for the freedoms and security we all cherish.
"Throughout this Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, and every March 29 thereafter, we will honor all those who answered our Nation's call to duty. We vow to never again confuse personal disapproval of war with prejudice against those who honorably wear the uniform of our Armed Forces. With conviction, our Nation pledges our enduring respect, our continuing care, and our everlasting commitment to all Vietnam veterans." -- President Donald J. Trump
The national Commemoration was authorized by Congress and established under the Secretary of Defense. The Windham Region Chamber of Commerce and its Military Service Council and Veterans Coffeehouse are Commemorative Partners and it is our honor to be able to thank and honor our Vietnam veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice.
QUALIFICATIONS: Each living veteran who served at any time on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, regardless of location, during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975 is eligible to receive the lapel pin on behalf of a grateful nation.
SURVIVING FAMILIES: We would also like to thank the families of those who gave their lives and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. If you are a surviving spouse or child of a Vietnam Era Veteran, you may also register and accept an award.
UNABLE TO ATTEND: Any veteran who cannot physically attend the ceremony will be able to participate on live facebook or zoom. If you live locally and are not able to drive to the event, we may be able to deliver your pin to you in a private ceremony. Please register.
THOSE IN ATTENDANCE: We request that if you plan to attend that you wear your uniform, if possible, or veteran insignia. Please also bring a copy of your service photo, enlarged if possible. We will have a photographer that would like to take a "then and now" photo of each veteran. This is strictly voluntary, so if you are camera shy you do not have to participate.
