Description
The Windham Chamber of Commerce FOUNDATION is hosting an event to raise funds for our "Scoutreach" pilot program that will bring scouting to kids in the Windham Before and After School Program. We are doing a pilot program this spring and we need your help!!! Please join us for a snack, a beer or lunch or dinner at a wonderful local restaurant and beer pub, Hops 44 in Storrs, CT. 20% of proceeds will go to fund our youth program.
ScoutReach is the BSA’s commitment to making sure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background. It reaches all age levels and programs that are associated with Boy Scouts of America.
Scouting, by emphasizing ethics and moral values, addresses many of the social concerns of parents and youth in our country. Scouting prepares urban and rural youth to be leaders, accept responsibility, and care about principles and causes beyond their own self-interest. Our biggest asset in urban and rural neighborhoods is a well-defined program based on values, learning-by-doing, fun, and positive role models.
Our goal is to raise $4000 or sponsor 20 kids at $200 per child that includes uniform, special events, handbook and activities. The Boy Scouts will cover some of these costs and will provide paid staff to run the program. What do we need?
1. Sponsors $100, $250 or $500. You will be listed on the t-shirts and promoted in every way we can think of.
2. Volunteers to help with the program. We will be meeting after school from about 3-5 pm in Windham.
3. Donations of scout camping equipment.
4. Have dinner with friends and family on May 22 at Hops 44 and support our efforts.
If you wish to donate, sponsor or volunteer, or even become a paid leader, please contact Diane at the email above.
