Access Community Action Agency is accepting donations through a fundraising partnership with the 2020 Travelers Championship Birdies for Charity program and will receive a 15% bonus on every dollar raised. Donations are more important than ever as Access continues to serve Windham and Tolland residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The PGA TOUR has announced that the 2020 Travelers Championship is currently scheduled as a TV-only event, broadcast by CBS and the Golf Channel, June 25–28. Conducting the tournament without crowds on-site is in the best interest of protecting everyone, including the Connecticut community at large, and you can still donate! Birdies for Charity is a giving platform that utilizes the excitement around the Travelers Championship to help nonprofits across the region raise awareness and funds to support their missions. Access and every 501(c)(3) organization that raises money through Birdies for Charity will receive a 15% bonus on every dollar raised. The Travelers Championship is proud to be a PGA TOUR event that donates 100 percent of net proceeds to charity every year. Since 1952, the tournament has given more than $38 million to the community. Launched in 2004, Birdies for Charity provides every 501(c)(3) in Connecticut an opportunity to raise awareness for its cause. The program is a giving platform that utilizes the excitement around the tournament to help nonprofits in communities across the region raise awareness and funds to support their missions. The Travelers Championship sends 100% of collected donations to the participating charities. It is a PGA TOUR initiative to build a community of tournaments, players, charities, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and fans who are committed to making a social investment by helping others. The majority of the funds raised as a professional sporting league are directed back into the local community where the tournament is held. This means that there isn’t one specific beneficiary of the PGA TOUR. Instead, there are nearly 3,000 charities and countless individuals worldwide who are touched by the TOUR’s goal of giving back. Funds raised will support Access’s Mission: To provide under-resourced individuals, families, and communities with access to opportunities that empower them to achieve and sustain economic stability.
